Wow. What an expressive masterpiece Mar 10, 2003
By Rachelle Bunch Terry Trotter and his trio Definately do Sondheim justice with this CD of amazing arrangements from Sweeney Todd. It amazes me that you can take "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" and have it swing as well as it does. Or take the song "Pretty Women" and make it so beautiful and mesmorizing. Terry Trotter is an amazing musician, and his work on "Kiss Me" impresses me, and helps me to appreciate the uniqueness of "over-dubbing" himself and making more color and contrast to his musicianship. I would highly recommend this CD. I found a used copy of this CD on the internet. Hope you can find one of these CD's! It is well worth the search!
An excellent soft rock album Sep 17, 2011

"Ray out west"
This is a very bright and well-paced "soft rock" instrumental delivery of the great Sondheim music from "Todd". The high point of the set is the vocal by Lorraine Feather on "Not While I'm Around" Her amazingly expressive approach to all her music puts you right into the song. Her great regard for Sondheim is revealed not only by her outstanding delivery, but also by the fact she seldom performs work by other composers, usually focusing on her own excellent creations.
